This is a question I’ve often been made to answer- a fictional character would-you-rather is a common conversation starter among single bookworms. But I read new book at least every few days, and the possibilities tend to build up until it’s impossible to decide: do I choose someone who will feed me well? Or do I invite an interesting character, to chat with? A fictional crush I’ve dreamed of meeting? A childhood favorite? Someone I have a question for? Someone whose food I want to poison?
Ok, maybe not the last one.
It’s tempting to say Bran Davis, from The Dark is Rising, to ask questions that have been on my mind for years, but I doubt I could last more than ten minutes without slapping him.
Cardan Greenbriar, from the Cruel Prince? He’d give me good food…but might also stab me.
A Forging Silver Into Stars character, maybe? Drink wine with Tycho, eat sweetcakes with Nora?
Afternoon tea with Tom Hayward?
Blue waffles with Percy Jackson?
Omelette with Will Parry?
A feast with Prince Rhen?
*stares at her bookcase, ponderingly*
Can’t I have dinner with them all?
